Good lighting is a basic element of good interior design. Effectively used, lighting will create drama and excitement or develop a cozy, warm & inviting setting.
Not sure which type of trim style is for you? Here's a brief overview that might help:
Baffles Baffled downlights are the most popular of all residential recessed fixtures. Baffles eliminate glare by absorbing all extraneous light rays reaching the surface. The crisp, clean appearance of the aperture adds to the baffle's general appeal.
Eyeballs Adjustable eyeballs are used to accent fireplaces, plants, or artwork. Each eyeball rotates & tilts to provide accent or directional lighting.
Wall Washes Wall Washes illuminate vertical surfaces such as walls, draperies, casework, & artwork, and help to make rooms and hallways feel spacious & bright. Graze walls to accentuate textured surfaces such as brick, stucco or stone or to highlight architectural details.
Which Trim Size is Right For You? Generally, smaller aperture trims are less conspicuous and are therefore considered more architectural desirable. However, 6" trims are still the mainstay for general residential downlight & wall wash illumination due to their ability to accommodate a wide range of bulbs, wattages, and efficient optics. 5" trims have become more popular for task lighting and general lighting in smaller scale settings. Juno's 3" trims are ideal in close proximity downlighting in niches, bookshelves & cabinets.
